The storied EDM festival's "Life" theme and breathtaking spectacle made it a global search phenomenon in 2024.
Tomorrowland has been named one of Google's "Breakout Searches of the Year" in 2024.
"Breakout Searches" refers to terms with a 5,000% increase in Google search interest. Underscoring Tomorrowland's enduring relevance in the broader scope of pop culture, the festival appears in the company's video recap alongside other viral standouts from 2024, like the beloved pygmy hippopotamus Moo Deng, the World Series Champion LA Dodgers and the hip-hop icon Kendrick Lamar.
The storied Belgian festival, which celebrated its landmark 20th anniversary this year, remains a cultural phenomenon that transcends borders, annually uniting the global EDM fandom from over 150 unique countries. As Google's annual list spotlights cultural landmarks and emerging trends, Tomorrowland's presence best indicates why the brand continues to be synonymous with EDM's broader "magical" allure.
Tomorrowland’s 2024 theme, "Life," took attendees back to a prequel of its 2016 "Elixir of Life" storyline, inviting visitors to explore a lush, mythical universe rooted in connection. This year's festival once again spanned two jam-packed weekends in July and featured DJ sets by Swedish House Mafia, Anyma, Hardwell, Sara Landry and hundreds more as nearly 400,000 attendees hinged on every waking moment of the action.
