The Knocks and Dragonette Embark On Wavy Synth-Pop Odyssey in New Single, "The Hero"

Turning heartache into something cinematic, their latest collaboration soundtracks a surreal corporate dreamscape.

The elevator doors slide open to reveal an office bathed in synthetic pastels, where time itself seems to glitch. Welcome to Revelation Technologies, the fictional corporate twilight zone where The Knocks and Dragonette have set the stage for their latest single, "The Hero."

The Knocks' history with Dragonette runs deep—their 2019 single "Slow Song" became a slow-burning anthem, and now, "The Hero" emerges as its introspective successor. An immediate follow-up to last month's "Revelation," the track is a transmission from a parallel dimension where neon-lit synths and aching nostalgia swirl into a dancefloor daydream.

The Knocks and Dragonette have mastered the art of turning heartache into something cinematic, and the new single is their latest masterstroke.

"This song is about the banality of how a relationship can turn cold," Dragonette explains. "When it’s not a dramatic explosion of betrayal or strong emotions that crash together. It’s about finding yourself in the midst of something else, unseen and unknowable making the question 'is this working' hard to answer."
