The BBC Radio 1 mix had never before been downloadable, according to VonStroke.
The subject line of Barclay Crenshaw's latest newsletter featured just two words, short yet electrifying: "VonStroke returns."
This bold declaration sent ripples of excitement through fans of the beloved house music producer, who spent the past year exploring his bass music alias. The official announcement that Claude VonStroke will tour in 2025 arrived last month, but the Dirtybird label boss has now dusted off a special treat from his archives to tide over his eager fanbase as they await his return.
The surprise? VonStroke's "first ever DJ mix," which aired back in 2007 via BBC Radio 1 and is now available to download for the first time. The mix arrived just two years after his groundbreaking debut record, "Deep Throat."
VonStroke described recording for BBC Radio 1 as "a right of passage for tastemakers who call themselves DJs."
"I remembered loading this mix with every possible ounce of my personality and the full character of what I was trying to do as Claude VonStroke," he wrote in an Instagram post. "If you have been missing the stank, the funk, the minimal house vibes and you have had it with commercial tech house… to be continued."
You download and listen to the mix here.
