WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle, who retired in 2019, recently announced that he won’t be wrestling again. His last match took place at WWE WrestleMania 35, where he lost to Baron Corbin. Since then, fans have speculated that he might return to the ring.
Kurt Angle, who was John Cena’s first opponent when Cena debuted in WWE in 2002, has heard fans hoping for a match between him and Cena during Cena’s retirement tour. Back in 2019, during his own retirement tour, Angle wanted Cena to be his final opponent. However, WWE’s Vince McMahon told him that he would have to wait another year because of Angle’s ongoing storyline with Baron Corbin. Angle also admitted he wasn’t able to wrestle for another year.
Recently on Insights with Chris Van Vliet, Kurt Angle revealed that he cannot wrestle John Cena on his retirement tour. He mentioned that while he hasn’t been in the ring for a full match, he did participate in a commercial a couple of months ago.
He stated, “I did a commercial for CBS, and it was for the NFL pre-game for the Ravens and Steelers. So me and a gentleman named Kyle Brandt, he’s a sportscaster for CBS. He pretended he was the Ravens and I pretended I was the Steelers. We had a pro wrestling match and I was bumping.”
While the WWE Hall of Famer revealed that he participated in a pro wrestling match for the commercial, after taking bumps on his back, he realized he could no longer continue pro wrestling.
