Garth Hudson passes away at 87, claims report

Garth Hudson, the renowned keyboardist of The Band, passed away at the age of 87. Reports confirm he died peacefully in his sleep at a nursing home in Woodstock, New York, after a prolonged illness.

While the details regarding Garth Hudson’s death remain limited, his longtime friend Jan Haust shared with Rolling Stone that Hudson’s final moments were spent surrounded by music. He said Hudson “died peacefully” and “yesterday was a day of music and hand-holding.”

Hudson had been residing in upstate New York for years, receiving care as his health declined. His passing follows that of other members of The Band, including Robbie Robertson, who died in 2023 after battling a long illness.

The Band, a Canadian-American rock group, gained immense popularity for their creative sound and contributions to music history. Hudson’s musicianship, particularly his ability to blend genres with the Lowrey organ, was instrumental in shaping the group’s iconic style.
