In a surprising piece of news, Vin Diesel has taken to social media to share news of a potential new update regarding the fourth Riddick movie.

What is the latest update on Riddick 4?

In a recent post on Instagram, Diesel shared an image of himself as Richard B. Riddick from the films. In an accompanying caption, Diesel simply teased that something was “incoming.”

The news comes as a shock as it has been some time since any update on a fourth Riddick film has come to light. In 2023, it was announced that Diesel and director David Twohy would be reuniting for the fourth movie, titled Riddick: Furya. At the time, the movie was reported to be written by Twohy, who would also direct, continuing their partnership across the franchise.

In 2024, Furya was said to be moving forward with production, with a filming date set for August of that year. However, it’s unknown whether or not that project ever commenced, with no real information coming out in the time since.

“Riddick finally returns to his homeworld, a place he barely remembers and one he fears might be left in ruins,” the reported synopsis for the film read at the time. “But there he finds other Furyans fighting for their existence against a new monster. And some of these Furyans are more like Riddick than he could have ever imagined.”

Originally released under the name Pitch Black in 2000, the first film in the Riddick series told the story of criminal Richard B. Riddick, a criminal with surgically modified eyes that makes him highly sensitive to light. The first film wasn’t a major hit, but quickly gained a cult following that led to two sequels, 2004’s The Chronicles of Riddick, and 2013’s Riddick.
