South Korea investigates Japanese woman who kissed BTS Jin

According to a report by AP News, a Japanese woman is currently under investigation following accusations of kissing Jin, a member of the popular South Korean group BTS, without consent.

The update of the investigation was confirmed by South Korean authorities at the Songpa police station in Seoul. The outlet reported that the woman had been called in for interrogation over charges of alleged sexual harassment. This happened after an online complaint was filed against her. However, the police authorities denied sharing any other details of the ongoing investigation.

Furthermore, South Korean authorities were seemingly able to identify the woman with assistance from Japanese police. However, the woman is reportedly not cooperating with the authorities and has refused to appear before them.

The incident dates back to June 2024, when Jin held a free hug event with approximately 1000 fans. This is when he returned from his mandatory military service. The event took place in Jamsil Indoor Stadium, Seoul, and Jin, who was the first member of BTS to get discharged from the military, hugged each fan, celebrating his return after 18 months.

While the event went on smoothly, the accused, said to be in her 50s, approached Jin and kissed him on the cheek. A video that circulated all over social media showed Jin looking visibly uncomfortable by the gesture. This caused an outrage among the Army (BTS fandom).

Moreover, the Japanese woman also made a post providing details of the interaction and wrote, “My lips touched his neck. His skin was so soft.”
